Aegis ‘unique’ iPhone cases

London based phone accessories manufacturer Aegis Vision recently sent In Stock a batch of their latest phone cases and after a brief, fruitless hunt around the office for a particular Blackberry I decided to check out the fancy iPhone cases they had sent me from a range boldly dubbed ‘Uunique’. The branding caught my attention and I was actually surprised to find that, true to their name, the cases do indeed have a couple of unique features.

The iPhone 3Gs case boasts a flip out stand which, allows you to place the phone on your desk with the screen in a surprisingly readable position, supposedly so that you can watch video or read from your iPhone (without having to suffer arm ache holding it in front of your face for hours on end). Personally I will stick to using my laptop but I can see the usefulness of this feature and the stand tucks neatly into the case making up an integral part of the design when not in use.

The iPhone 4 case’s party trick is a removable bottom section which slides on and off the phone quickly and easily, this is especially handy if you use an iPhone/iPod dock as many iPhone hard covers can prevent you from docking it properly.

Build quality seems good; both cases fit snuggly, covering the back and sides of the phone while styling is mostly aimed toward the female market and Aegis have clearly put good effort making these cases look glamorous. The only disappointment was finding that there was no screen protectors included with these cases, if you buy one I recommend buying screen protection film in addition.

The diskGenie recently become the first USB hard drive product to be awarded a CESG Claims Tested Mark (CCTM)
certificate /Default.aspx> operating at levels below Restricted for Information Assurance.

We’ve not got a sample to review but the diskGenie uses a standard USB 2.0 connection for data transfer so we would assume the transfer speed is reasonable, but with USB 3.0 well on it’s way into millions of UK homes, why not go a step further and release a version with USB 3.0 support.

I’m still undecided as to which is cooler, thumbprint access or an ATM keypad like this, hmmm…..

A Radio, Calliper Style

Like a precision calliper tool, 08 Radio by Mikael Silvanto lets you precisely find the station you want by sliding the entire radio unit up and down the scale. It’s a minor improvement and may irk some who prefer a dial but functions aside, it is nice to look at just as a stand-alone piece.

Sony PS3 Motion Controller

Sony just announced the rumored new motion controller for the PS3 — the prototype looks like a wand with a color-changing ball on top. It’s designed to work in conjunction with the PlayStation Eye, with the wand overlaid on-screen with a weapon or tool. Unlike Microsoft’s Project Natal, Sony says they’ve learned “some experiences need buttons,” which is why there’s still a controller involved. The system is said to be “sub-millimeter” precise, and it was demoed drawing and playing a shooter — it’s sort of the middle ground between Natal and Wii Motion Plus. Sony says it’ll launch in the spring of 2010, but we don’t know what pricing will be like yet.
The main difference between Sony’s PS3 Motion controller and Microsoft’s Project Natal is that the Sony version will use a Wii like controller, whilst Project Natal wont use a controller.

Gamepark GP2x Open Source Gaming Console

Like other gaming devices out in the market, this cool gadget, plays video games, movies and music, and displays pictures, and e-books. It supports all major media formats and has TV out features as well. Though the internal memory is just a tiny 64 MB it has an integrated SD slot that allows up to 2gb of memory. This is perhaps the first open source game console. It runs on Linux and supports a lot of FREE available softwares like the GPL Quake engine. There is a lot of support online as well making this device a must have for game enthusiasts.

iPhone QWERTY Concept

Another mock up of the iPhone has surfaced recently. This time it shows a phone with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard which is something that a number of people are asking for.
The keyboard also seems to be set up a little bit like a controller too with a dial on the left and action buttons to the right.

Window Phone Concept Gadget

The Window Phone is a concept device designed by Seunghan Song. It’s a slice of glass that can display certain information such as current weather conditions as well as predictions for the next day or 2.
This Window Phone looks like an iPhone screen, with the main feature being that it gives you a weather report by simulating what a Window would look like in that kind of weather. See the rain? Just imagine what happens if it snows. When it is clear and sunny out, the screen is crystal-clear.
By the way, you can also fog the phone up and draw on it, as seen by the illustration after the break. This would result in your illustrations being sent over MMS.
